About Me

Who is Erika?

Well, let's see if I can paint an accurate picture with words.  Simply put I am AWESOME! Haha, kidding....sort of.  People would most likely describe me as a ball of energy, starbucks addict (I'm working on controlling this one, it's a rough economy right now), and story teller.  You know when you tell someone a story that happened to you over the weekend and it's incredibly over the top.  Most people that tell their experience would hear, "No way, I can't believe that happened to you!"  Well, not me.  I get "Of course that happened to you!" right after that individual has stopped laughing.

Now aside from the descriptions above here's a little more about me.  I love volunteering, but I don't do it enough.  However, when I do get a chance my favorite place to volunteer is my local food bank.  Aside from the good feeling that I get by just participating and meeting new people I find it's also an excellent workout.  All volunteers are lined up on an assembly line and you have 1 to 2 food items to throw into a box as it comes down the assembly line.  Well, let's just say you learn to move fast because the assembly line moves faster and you don't want to be the one that keeps holding the process up.  You are constantly twisting and turning to grab the items on pallets behind you.  So if you are looking for a way to do good and sweat a little (actually kind of a lot) try your local food bank.

What else do I love?  I recently decided to knock off an entry from my bucket list, running a half marathon.  I am currently training to run my first and am loving it.  Yes, I am among the slowest runners (more accurately jogger) in my running group, but so what, right!  I love the feeling I get after I accomplish my weekend log runs.  As I write this I am super proud and feeling slightly sore from my 6 mile jog.

What else do I love?  My family (mother, father, 2 brothers, 2 sister in laws, and 2 nieces), my puppy Molly (she's actually almost 7, but is a puppy in my eyes forever), my boyfriend Kelly and his dog Austin, snowboarding, hiking, college football, cooking (anyone who's known me prior to this year would gasp at this as this is recent), chick flick movies, my best friends who are childhood friends, yoga, Pinterest, the smell of clean crisp mountain air and rain, traveling especially anywhere I've never been, exploring, thinking positively....this list could go on forever because there is so much in life to love, be passionate about and grateful for.

My favorite quote is:
“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
-Mother Teresa
So in a nutshell, basically, I am a girl who is in love with life.
